Using Apiary Tools

By creating an account or using the site, you agree to these terms. If you don't agree, please don't use the service.

You must be at least 13 years old to create an account. You're responsible for keeping your password secure and for everything that happens under your account.

Your Account & Data

You own your data. Your apiaries, hives, inspections, photos and notes are yours. I don't claim any rights over the content you put into the app, and I don't sell or share it with third parties. See the Privacy Policy for details on how data is stored and protected.

You can export or delete your data at any time. Reach out if you'd like help.

Acceptable Use

Please don't:

• Use the service to do anything illegal or harmful
• Try to break, scrape or overload the site
• Upload malicious content, spam or content you don't have rights to
• Impersonate other users or misrepresent your identity
• Attempt to access other users' accounts or data

If you abuse the service, I may suspend or terminate your account.

Email Communications

When you create an account, you'll receive essential transactional emails (email confirmation, password resets, inspection reminders if you enable them). These are required to use the service.

If you opted in to marketing emails at signup, I'll occasionally send product updates and tips. You can unsubscribe from these at any time using the link in any marketing email, or by updating your account preferences. Unsubscribing from marketing won't affect transactional emails.

Service Availability

Apiary Tools is provided as-is. I do my best to keep it running and accurate, but I can't guarantee 100% uptime, and I may need to take it down for maintenance occasionally.

The information and calculators on the site are for informational purposes only. They're not a substitute for professional veterinary or agricultural advice. Use your judgment when applying anything you read here to your hives.

Beekeeping Information

The calculators, guides and treatment references are educational. They summarise published sources and product labels, but the label on a product is the legal document, and regulations differ by state and country. Apiary Tools is independent and is not affiliated with any government agency. For veterinary concerns, consult a qualified professional. Decisions about your bees, and their outcomes, are yours.

Tips & Donations

Apiary Tools is free, and every feature works without paying anything. If you choose to leave a tip in the apps, the purchase is processed by Apple or Google under their terms, and refunds follow their standard processes. Donations on the website go through Buy Me a Coffee under theirs. Tips and donations unlock nothing and are not payment for a service.

AI Features

The AI inspection helper is optional and off until you accept its notice. It summarises what you recorded and can be wrong; check anything it says against your own record and your own judgement before acting on it.

Disclaimer & Liability

To the fullest extent allowed by law, Apiary Tools is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose. I'm not liable for any indirect, incidental or consequential damages resulting from your use of the service, including loss of data, loss of colonies or loss of honey production. To the extent liability cannot be excluded, my total liability is limited to the amount you paid for the service in the twelve months before the claim, which for most users is zero, since the service is free.

Some jurisdictions do not allow certain exclusions or limits, so parts of this section may not apply to you.

Governing Law

These terms are governed by the laws of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, United States, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Any dispute that ends up in court belongs in the state or federal courts covering Allegheny County, Pennsylvania, though I'd much rather you email me first — most problems are fixable without any of that.

Termination

You can stop using the service or delete your account at any time. I may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms or that have been inactive for a long period.

Changes to These Terms

I may update these terms from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page with an updated date. For significant changes, I'll notify users via email.
